Hi, I’m Rebecca Collins.

I grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin, the city that provides the world with manhole covers and sewer grates. My family owned a produce market; I worked at our store every summer and in the process I encountered a lot about fruits and vegetables. However, I do not know how to grow any fruits and vegetables. I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Journalism and from the Screenwriting program at Metropolitan State University.

I have no discernible “blogging niche” but, should you become a regular reader, you will be able to count on reading about all things strange, dogs, fashion, thrift stores, memoirs, movies, going places, Little Edie Beale and writing. What you will not find on Not Shallow are:

write-ups about the latest tech gadgets
pictures of celebrities who are not fully clothed
videos of dog fights
stock tips
serious journalism
tips on how to write a screenplay
love for professional sports teams

I live in Minneapolis with my husband, Keith Pille, a talented cartoonist and technology manager. We have a dog named Freja and a cat named Jones. My observations and musings also sometimes appear on MN Dialog, a blog that is part of the Minnesota Film & TV Board’s website.
